Since fifth grade, I have wanted to be a doctor. The smartest and coolest guy I knew was my own family physician, Dr. O’Neill in Waterford, Michigan. Dr. O’Neill looked after my whole family until his retirement as I was heading off to college. For summer jobs, I worked as nursing assistant in a nursing home and a lab tech in my county epidemiology lab. Ever since medical school, medicine has been my full-time job.

In Family Medicine, I have the privilege of treating all ages and all ailments. We always say, “You never know what will walk through the door.” With babies and young children, it’s about alleviating their fears, and mostly their parents’ fears. With older children and adolescents, we foster independence and healthy behaviors to prevent later chronic conditions. Working with adults of all ages is a mix of prevention, treatment, and helping patients set health goals. For seniors, we respect their health legacies and support their goals for aging and end of life.

Each day, I hope to improve the health and well-being of my patients through the application of the latest research on chronic disease management and preventive services, using modern technology and information systems. Since 1988, I have assembled a team of dedicated professionals who bring a variety of expertise and interests along with a caring attitude and commitment to quality care.

We strive every day to be your medical home.

When I was a young, my mom would take me to a local nursing home to visit the folks who lived there. I used to love to bring toys and books to read with the seniors who lived there just to make them feel more at home and happy. I continued to enjoy bringing happiness to people and in high school worked at a creemee stand, as a lifeguard, as a Visiting Nurses Association Hospice volunteer, and as a personal care attendant before I became a nurse. I continue to enjoy spreading care to the patients I see at Cold Hollow Family Practice.

My clinical interests are all based around care for the whole family, from pediatrics to geriatrics. I have extensive experience in mental health and women’s health for all ages.

I hope that when you’re here, you feel taken care of, heard, and understood.

When you’re a patient here with us, we treat you like family.

I always wanted to work in primary care, as I believe it is the backbone of healthcare and where we can make the biggest difference in our patient’s lives. Preventing disease from occurring and detecting disease early are my passions. I chose to work with adults and geriatric patients as I have always connected well to that population and want to work to keep them out of the acute care setting and maintain their independence. After working with more adolescents and female patients since being here, I have grown to have a strong interest in women’s health and find I can build strong relationships with younger patients since I am more relatable to them.

Working at Cold Hollow Family Practice has enabled me to learn a lot about women’s health, especially performing pelvic exams and pap smears. I love mental health and helping my patients manage insomnia, depression, and anxiety. Procedures are exciting, such as joint injections (knees), suturing, incision and drainage, cyst removal. I plan to learn and offer as many hands-on skills as possible!

It is gratifying to work with patients on lifestyle changes that improve their health instead of simply relying on medication. I am also interested in learning more about natural medicine and am open to helping patients with that path if they are looking to integrate it into their care plans.

I hope my patients view me as someone they can trust and who tries to provide them with empathy and understand where they are coming from. I want them to be able to develop a strong relationship with me and know that I am invested in their health and wellbeing. I believe in a holistic approach to care, one where I see the patient as a whole person and not just a problem to treat.

Living in Vermont allows me to be active outside skiing, hiking, swimming, and camping. I remain involved with UVM’s nursing department and love helping to educate future nurses and nurse practitioners. I hope to become more involved in the community in Enosburg, as I am new here and would like to be more engaged in area activities.

Every day, we look forward to getting to know our patients on a personal level and developing a trusting relationship with them and their loved ones in a primary care setting.
